The flywheel B6-01-0432 (also B7-02-021) in the vibration damper of the BMW 600 engine serves as a mass inertia element to smooth engine operation and reduce torsional vibrations. When overhauling the vibration damper, the surface, fits, and concentricity of the flywheel should be carefully inspected, and the part should be replaced if it is out of balance, cracked, or severely corroded. This preserves the damping effect, and the restored engine runs smoothly and gently on the materials.
