The 1st gear gear with bushing, part no. 2-066, handles the positive torque transmission in the BMW Isetta transmission when starting off and is therefore particularly prone to wear. During restoration, chipped teeth, pitting, or worn bushings should not be reworked but replaced with a new gear. This restores the correct tooth flank clearance and the original smoothness of first gear in the Isetta transmission.
