The piston pin with part number 1-0548 (D 20 mm, L 62.9 mm) connects the piston to the connecting rod in the BMW Isetta engine and transmits the combustion forces to the crankshaft. For a professional engine restoration, the piston and connecting rod eye should be inspected for wear, and the bearing clearance should be precisely adjusted to the new piston pin. Worn or seized piston pins must be replaced to prevent noise and consequential damage in the restored engine.
