The B7-05-097 cover seals the inspection hole in the drive housing of the BMW 700 transmission and prevents the ingress of dirt as well as the loss of transmission fluid. During a transmission overhaul as part of a BMW 700 restoration, the cover should be inspected for corrosion, warping, and leaks, and replaced if necessary. An intact cover contributes significantly to the operational reliability and longevity of the transmission.
