The Pertinax insulating flange B7-03-105 (4 mm thick, 58 mm hole spacing, 34 mm bore) serves as a thermal barrier in the BMW 700 between the carburetor and the intake side of the engine, protecting the carburetor from excessive heat. During a carburetor overhaul or restoration, a cracked or warped original flange must be replaced to prevent air leaks, vapor lock, and associated running problems. Ensure that the sealing surfaces are flat and that the gaskets fit properly to restore the original function of the intake system.
