The lower left air duct with pre-assembled upper left air duct (B7-01-09355) ensures that the cooling airflow is directed past the cylinders and cylinder head in the BMW 700 engine. During restoration, a distortion-free fit without dents or cracks is important, as leaks can lead to uneven cooling and overheating. Especially for completely disassembled engines, the air duct should be inspected for corrosion, proper fit, and complete mounting points before installation.
