The protective tube 1-056, approximately 67 mm long, serves in the BMW Isetta engine to guide and seal the pushrod, preventing the ingress of dirt and oil loss. During restoration, damaged or corroded protective tubes must be replaced to ensure the tightness of the valve train and to prevent consequential damage to the pushrods and valve mechanism.
