Bei der Restaurierung sollten alle Zahnräder, Lager, Synchronringe und Dichtungen sorgfältig geprüft und verschlissene Teile ersetzt werden, um ein sauberes Schaltverhalten und Dichtheit sicherzustellen. Aufgrund des Zustands ist eine komplette Zerlegung und Instandsetzung vor dem Einsatz im restaurierten BMW 700 dringend zu empfehlen.
