The bearing shield for the 300 cc BMW Isetta engine (Part No. 1-022) precisely accommodates the crankshaft bearings and ensures their exact alignment within the engine block. During engine restoration, special attention should be paid to wear, cracks, and dimensional accuracy of the bearing shield, as damage here can lead to increased bearing noise and premature engine failure. An intact bearing shield is therefore a prerequisite for long-lasting and low-vibration engine operation.
