The standard-size nose ring (Part No. B7-02-044) serves as a specially shaped piston ring in the BMW 600 carburetor engine to improve combustion chamber sealing and oil control. During an engine overhaul, the nose ring and other piston rings should always be replaced as a set and installed in the correct position. This is the only way to restore the compression, wear characteristics, and smoothness of the restored engine to their original levels.
