The original BOSCH distributor plate B6-08-00474 for the BMW 600 carries the ignition contacts and switches the primary current of the ignition coil, thereby mechanically determining the ignition timing. For reliable operation in a restored vehicle, a correct contact gap, clean contact surfaces, and a tight fit in the distributor are crucial. As part of a restoration, it is recommended to inspect the breaker plate along with the cams, capacitor, and distributor shaft, and to replace them if necessary to permanently prevent misfires and starting problems.
