In the BMW 600 engine, the B6-01-0961 tappet transmits the motion of the camshaft to the pushrod and thus to the valves, which is why dimensional accuracy and clean running surfaces are crucial for proper valve control. During restoration, used tappets should always be inspected for wear marks, edge formation, and the correct diameter (21.96 or 22.00 mm) and should only be installed in combination with matching guides and pushrods.
